Iced Yorkshire was created by Angela and her husband Robert who both have a background in hospitality and catering. Angela started cake decorating in 2002 and then opened Angela’s Angel Cakes in 2008. She is now embarking on her next adventure ‘Iced Yorkshire’.

Angela has recently completed a teaching course, so that she can also hold cake decorating classes and demonstrations. Robert has supported Angela through Angela’s Angel Cakes and now has a good knowledge of cake making and decorating. Robert obtained an NVQ level 3 in Business and Administration in 2012 and is now putting that into good practice with Iced Yorkshire. Angela and Robert are also helped by their daughter Maisie who is already learning the ropes. This business will hopefully be passed on to Maisie in the future.

Iced Yorkshire Opening Day

When Iced Yorkshire started they took over a unit on the Bull Commercial centre and transformed it into a shop. To do this only local companies were used and Robert did a lot of the work himself too.

Angela and Robert started this business after seeing a gap in the market as there was no longer a specialist sugar craft supplies company within York and there was still a demand for one, with baking and cake decorating becoming quite a trend. Iced Yorkshire is striving to be the biggest sugar craft supplies company in Yorkshire through listening to its customers and ensuring that they provide a service to them.

Iced Yorkshire opened on the 26th April 2014 and had a big launch day where Berwick Kaler (York’s pantomime Dame) cut the ribbon and cake and bucks fizz were served all day. The demonstrations have been a success and have encouraged people to book for classes in the future. The classes are suitable for any level of expertise and age group with children’s classes available and private ones can be booked too for hen and birthday parties.

Iced Yorkshire has been approached by the Rural Craft Association to hold demonstrations at the Crafts for Christmas event at the Yorkshire Show ground in Harrogate, and through the classes and demonstrations Angela has been approached and is now teaching for the York City Councils further adult education sector holding night classes on sugar craft.

Iced Yorkshire has been a dream in the making for over 10 years and now Robert and Angela have made it reality after a lot of hard work!
